We have experienced the worst slump in years – 11 units vacant and the apartment building is like a ghost town in itself. We have decreased rents by a significant percentage. We have real estate agents helping us out now, when these units were flying off the shelves just without the hand of any third party promoters. We did not even have to put up signs saying mentioning our vacancy.
The market researcher for a real estate firm that I have gotten to be acquaintances with informed me of one important value to crack our target market. It is not that there are no probable tenants out there. In fact, he mentioned that due to the crisis where people succumbed to foreclosed properties, there should be a significant increase in apartment our house leases. Yet even their firm has been experiencing the same odd condition in property leases. He mentioned that they are looking for added value. I asked myself what could be a good feature for these vacant apartments that could be as attractive for our target tenants.
Then I realized that people are looking for something of value to them – not in the form of fancy house paintings, or furnishings in the apartment though those could help. I remember a lot of tenants asking about burglar alarm systems. I went on to do more than that. I have purchased the latest in Wireless Home Security Systems and installed every apartment with that. It is worth the investment, especially that these Wireless Security Systems do not have to be a heavy spend through securitysystemspro.com. And yes, this time, I thought right.

A community intervention on security and safety is not complete without home security systems
As the president of the parents and teachers association of the school of my kids, I always talk with my fellow parents about the security and safety of our kids. One parent brought up the topic on DIY Security Systems since she thought that while we have ensured the security and safety of our kids in school, we should also ensure the security and safety of our kids at HOME. When we talked to the other parents, we found that a lot don’t have an existing security measure in their own homes. After discussing the risks of having an unsafe home for our kids, the PTA has decided to do some type of community intervention to promote Home Security Systems.
For community-based interventions to be successful a number of factors are important including community participation, supportive local policy decisions, action, and collaboration with nongovernmental organisation. Healthy schools and homes, we found out, can have a major impact on the health and security of children.Families and employees can result in increased enthusiasm, participation and improved productivity if they know that their immediate environment is safe.. Parents can and should play a significant role in supporting such initiatives by leading information campaigns; ensuring that security messages are clear and consistent; influencing policies related to access to security systems in school and work premises; encouraging the creation of secured and safe environments and provision of facilities.June 15, 2010 | Filed Under security | Leave a Comment
